So a little more clarity on the dumb little teaser:
Exposure is a gloomy survival/adventure game set in a world that has all but died. The player will control a traveller making his way through a landscape ravaged by a plague. To survive in the world, the traveller must:
- Avoid infected areas
- Scavenge food and drink
- Find protection (masks, heaving clothing, medicine)
- Solve puzzles
- And other adventure tropes...
The map at the moment stands at around 10x10 screens and has a lot of room to grow, so it will probably double in size before I'm done. I'm aiming for around an hour of actual plot-line gameplay - plus varying time added for running around surviving.
I'll also need a little help from anyone that is willing to pitch in. At some point in development I'll need reliable beta testers to not only stress test the game, but give some constructive feedback on different aspects of the game. I'll also probably be needing music. So if anyone would like to contribute any soundscapes, music or even sound effects that they think would fit the atmosphere of the project, I'd love to take a listen. You can message me here on NG, at any of the links below or just drop me an Email at email@example.com.
And finally, in the interest of updates: I've got a few different forms of social media you can check out that I'd be totally stoked if you followed.
- My tumblr is kind of regularly updated.
- I have a twitter account that I haven't used to tweet with in over five years.
- And lastly, I recently made a facebook page. And whats more even embarrassing than making a facebook page dedicated to yourself - is that no one has joined it yet.
I've made a pledge to all 4 of my regular fans that I'll be updating these places a lot more as time goes on. Anyway, I'm not great at this whole self promotion thing, so thanks for reading guys.
Thought I'd shed a little more light on a game I'm working on. Plus, I'm a total whore for feedback.
Exposure is an infection survival game with some old school RPG tendencies. The player will take the role of a man who is trying to survive in a town that is all but dead. There'll be a lot of other shit going on too, but it's mostly in all hypothetical at this point. Some Screenshots:
While all the game art is likely to stay the same, the specific scenarios depicted in the screenshots are likely to change. I've decided to go with more of a focus on the survival gameplay - as opposed to telling a story (which was originally invisioned). Anywho, any and all questions are welcome.
The concept phase is way easier than actually finishing a game.
Edit: Slightly better quality version: in the art portal.
It's been a very long time since I've been motived enough to create something (anything), so I felt it noteworthy to anyone who follows my work, that I am indeed working on something new. It's not much at all so far. But atleast it's something.
Last night Ludum Dare 25 started. I had an idea about 16 hours ago, that I thought would be edgy, controversial and thought provoking, that now just seems tacky, heavy handed and frankly disrespectful.
The game was going to deal with the way that the media sensationalises the news surrounded recent tragedies. The idea stemmed from this video and the game would paint the media (particularly 24 hour news outlets) as the villains. I however, quickly realised that having the player gun down dozens of civilians might just be a little too untasteful at the moment. Plus, no one really enjoys being preached at. It's a good job I didn't get very far.
Good luck to everyone still trucking away. Maybe I'll try something else in a few hours.
Red is a game that haven't touched in many months.
It dawned on me today that I couldn't even remember where I had even saved it, never mind what I had coded. So for that reason, I have let it go.
You can now play it here at no cost, aside from your time. Any feedback (while, redundant) is welcome.
Dearest Red, You were far too ambitious for me to handle. Some stars shine so bright, that they burn out before their time. And some starts have shitty developers who have far too much university work to concentrate on you.
Goodbye Red. Maybe someday, eh?
So over the last 3 days or so I've been working away at some robot-based game. The aforementioned miracle is that I've actually finished it.
The downside to that is I was on a very small timescale and because of that, it's very, very short. Still. None the less. Progress.
It also isn't very good. But whatever.
Happy Robot Day Everyone.
Two posts in two weeks? Great Oden's raven!
Okay, you got me. Two weeks and one day. Whatever.
As far as progress with Red goes, none has been made. Here's a screenshot to tide the four of my fans over. Don't spend it all at once.
I am here, however, to talk about something other than myself. If for some reason you like the junk that I throw at the internet, you might like RAPTUS. It's a neat little "art game" that gets wonderfully disturbing.
Everyone should also listen to Built To Spill, all the time.
Mostly directed at the 4 people who Email me constantly about updates. I will try to be a little more pro-active when it comes to news. Maybe the rest of you could atleast feign interest? Anywho, These screenshots are for the newest incarnation of RED. At the moment it's a point 'n' click/adventure game. That's all really.
The one that looks like shit is because it's too dark to even take a screenshot of apparently. Thus is the plight of caves.
Since NG only allows one image per post, heres a link to the rest of them.
Keep it cheesy.
Whether I'm going to completely restart Red or not. This is as far as I'm getting with the current iteration.
Good night sweet prince.
